As of Wednesday, the Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 461.27 feet msl (normal conservation pool – 462.04 msl).
(Updated 1-29-2014) Tommy Cauley of Fish Finder Guide Service said the water level is 0.99 feet below normal pool of 462.54 feet and the water temperature is 39 to 45 degrees. Bass fishing is improving every day with the longer days. Jerk baits, Rat-L-Traps and spinnerbaits are all working well. Alabama rigs are working on suspended fish; stay around the shad. Crappie are biting fairly well on Road Runners and jigs tipped with minnows in 18 to 30 feet of water, suspended in the pole timber. No report on catfish. Walleye fishing is just on the verge of getting good. Many are ready to spawn and some are still on the move upriver. A few good days of sun, and we should see some very good action. No report on bream.The hybrid and white bass bite is good on spoons and in-line spinners in and around all the major feeders on the lake in 43 to 47 feet of water.
